Development and application of powerful biomarker approaches to analyze and characterize entire microbial communities and individual microbial species, to assess their ecology and impact on agriculture, forestry and the environment. The UMC is financially supported as a Strong Research Environment for a period of 5 years (2006-2010) with a grant from The Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (FORMAS).
